Strom Bryson Quilt Memorial

More than 5,000 donor families invited to participate in Quilt Project.

During the past year, Southeast Tissue Alliance, partnering with LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services, has invited more than 4,000 donor families to remember their loved ones through the creation of a square for the Strom Bryson Memorial Donor Quilt.

Thanks to a generous grant from donor mother Martha Bryson, the Strom Bryson Memorial Donor Quilt was unveiled in the fall of 1999 as a project to benefit donor families as well as to help make communities aware of the caring and compassionate people who made such unselfish decisions during a very difficult time in their lives.

Bryson wanted to offer this project to families like herself who chose organ and/or tissue donation for their loved ones. The project offers donor families the opportunity to craft a quilt square in honor of their loved ones who were organ, tissue and eye donors. Through a postcard and packet, more families are being directly invited to submit a square for an upcoming quilt panel.

At this time, nine quilt panels are completed, honoring more than 288 donors, and collection for the tenth quilt has begun.
