Dale Hiedeman, Donor Son

Dale Hiedeman knows what it is like to lose a loved one – he also knows the comfort he felt knowing that his 95-year-old mother could donate tissue after her death, helping others continue their lives with better health. He knew his mother would have wanted to help others – so he felt it his duty to carry out those wishes by saying “yes” to tissue donation.

“The ability to extend the gift of life to others is remarkable,” Hiedeman said. “I really feel a lot of pride about who my mother was – and that she was able to help others even after her death.”

After attending one of Southeast Tissue Alliance’s “Remembrance and Recognition” programs in Tallahassee last year, Hiedeman was prompted to get more involved in raising awareness for tissue and organ donation as a volunteer for Southeast Tissue Alliance’s “Share” Program.

“I hope I’ll be able to influence others to participate in the donation process,” Hiedeman said. “Participation in this type of program gives you a feeling of togetherness and brotherhood. I get a feeling of pride when I tell people about my involvement with Southeast Tissue Alliance.”
