Donor Program

SETA Donor Referral Program for Funeral Homes

SETA has a program for funeral homes that allows them to offer donation as a service to families. Funeral Homes participating in this program refer potential donors to SETA and SETA then approaches the families for donation. The recovery of tissue typically takes place in the funeral home and is closely coordinated with the funeral home staff to ensure the families funeral and donation needs are fully met.

The advantages of this program are:

  • Funeral Homes see this as a service they can offer families.
  • Families are grateful to the funeral home for helping them donate tissues to help others.
  • The donor is already at the funeral home and the tissue bank works closely with the staff to ensure funeral needs are met.
  • Potential donors are released immediately by hospitals to the funeral homes.
  • Funeral homes have the opportunity to talk with families about donation before it takes place and can therefore address funeral concerns with SETA prior to recovery.
  • The donation provides a service to the community as more people are helped thanks to the generous gift of tissue donation.
