Baptist Health Care in Pensacola has built a world class institute for orthopaedics and sports medicine in Northwest Florida, with the leadership and reputation of nationally and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon James Andrews, MD. The creation of the Andrews Institute has secured Northwest Florida as a cradle for musculoskeletal treatments and research. The Institute is comprised of several divisions including: Multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center, Outpatient Rehabilitation, Diagnostic Imaging Center, Athletic Performance Center, a Research and Education Institute, and a multispecialty office park for physicians. The Andrews–Paulos Institute Research and Education Institute (AREI) encompasses nearly 16,000 square feet of dedicated research laboratories and education and conference facilities. AREI houses three distinct research laboratory facilities instrumented with state-of-the-art research instrumentation: Human Performance Biomechanics Laboratory, Body Composition and Human Physiology Laboratory, and Surgical Skill, Cadaver and Materials Testing Laboratory.
