Southeast Tissue Alliance strives to enhance life through the gift of donation while operating under the highest ethical standards. Every donation is evaluated to ensure tissues are properly consented for and used for appropriate medical or educational purposes. Research requests are carefully evaluated on a case by case basis.

Consent: : The informed consent process is conducted by highly trained and dedicated requestors who follow the "Model Elements of Informed Consent" recommended by the American Association of Tissue Banks. This process provides accurate and detailed information concerning the recovery process, tissue utilization and benefits and profit and non-profit relationships. To avoid any potential conflict of interest, requestors are not compensated based on obtaining consents.

Costs: : There is no cost to donor families for donation. Although some funeral homes charge a fee for reconstruction, the fee is covered by Southeast Tissue Alliance. Southeast Tissue Alliance works closely with funeral homes to facilitate the donation and funeral arrangements.

Standards: Southeast Tissue Alliance is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks and follows published standards. Recovery personnel abide by written protocols and guidelines that ensure that the recovery procedure is performed with the necessary care and respect that shows our appreciation for the decision to donate.

Research Evaluation: : Southeast Tissue Alliance specializes in coordinating the recovery of organs and tissues for transplant and research purposes. A recovery reimbursement fee is assessed to the using agency for the recovery of each organ or tissue specimen. This fee covers the actual procurement of the specimen and all costs associated with recovery including personnel, supplies and equipment, and administrative and facility fees.

Regulatory Review: Southeast Tissue Alliance is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks, and licensed by the State of Florida. Southeast Tissue Alliance is regulated by the FDA as well as State and local agencies.
